When I was a child, my grandmother would make me a new dress every christmas. It was always made in a heavy fabric like velvet or wool, had a classic but beautiful cut and was kept in red, pink or purple colors. 20 people from my closets family would be gathered on christmas evening, and dressed up in our nicest clothes we would celebrate the magical evening and later on all of us would go to sleep in my grandparent’s big house.

I can’t remember ever telling Eleanor about those handmade christmas dresses of mine, but I guess did, and a few days back she suddenly asked, if her and her sister could each have a christmas dress this year. A special christmas dress, that they won’t get to wear before this magical evening and which later on will remind them of it all. And not just any dress, but a christmas dress in christmas colors (which is apparently either red, light pink or grey if you ask my children). How can I say no to that? To those words, that for a few minutes made me remember just who magical I used to think my  childhood christmas celebrations were? Well, I couldn’t, and now I’m on the hunt for that perfect christmas dress.
